CDC Comorbidity and Benford's Law

Benford’s Law analyzes the digits in numerical data, helps identify anomalies, and detects systematic manipulation of data (the making up of false numbers) based on the digital distribution in a natural population.

Applying Benford's Law to the WHO's Covid-19 global deaths dataset, we find just under 2000 records and a distribution as expected on the first digit. The second and third digits show less conformity to the expected Benford distribution. Lets see if we can figure out why!
